Welcome

Marysville Main Street was established in 2000, with the purpose of revitalizing the downtown area. The Marysville Main Street Program is a non-profit, volunteer based organization that consists of four committees through which all goals and objectives are attained. Main Street is a tight knit community of retail and service businesses dedicated to the success of downtown.

There are over 1500 Main Street Cities across the United States, in addition to Marysville there are 21 other Main Street designed cities within Kansas. The Kansas Main Street program is designed as a downtown economic development and preservation self-help program. Through it, a positive image is created for the central business district based on the historic and architectural features of the community.

Marysville Main Street invites you to join us in revitalizing a lasting legacy in downtown

What is Main Street?

The National Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation

The National Main Street Center is a part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Since 1980's, the National Main Street Center has been working with communities across the nation to revitalize their historic, traditional commercial areas. Based in historic preservation, the Main Street approach was developed to save historic commercial architecture and the fabric of American communities. It had become apparent that as downtown's died, so did the City. We all have a stake in the future downtown. The health and vitality of our downtown inevitability communicates our community's larger capacity and self respect to the out side world. Downtown is where people gather to shop, meet friends and eat a good meal. Downtown also serves as a gathering place for parades, sporting, activities, celebrations and events that bring people in the community together. The program is funded through membership dues from local businesses, professionals, property owners, financial institutions, industry, manufacturing, concerned citizens and the City of Marysville, as well as events and activities. Marysville Main Street is an on-going program that essentially manages change over time. Main Street produces dramatic short term improvements particularly in appearance and promotions, while creating a strong organizational foundation that is critical to long term revitalization success.

Over 2000 Cities across America have adopted the Main Street Approach over the last 25 years. Main Street Cities must have a population of less than 50,00. In Kansas for every public $1.00 invested the return exceeds $675.00 in private dollars.
